About pdx vagabond.

Hey there. My name is Brian Anthony Hardie. I am a musician and poet living in Portland, Oregon. I am also a Certified Recovery Mentor aka Peer Support Specialist. I have toured the United States performing spoken word and playing bass in numerous punk, metal, experimental and noise rock outfits that have come out of the Pacific Northwest. A big influence of mine is Steven Jesse Bernstein. I am currently a full time student at Portland Community College, completing the Sonic Arts and Music Program. I have been a contributing writer to many publications since I was 18 years old. The reason that I also work in the recovery field is because I myself am also an addict in recovery. I volunteer by going into hospitals, schools, and institutions as a subcommittee member of a local non profit called PDX outreach, we are the first group since DARE to go into schools to discuss drug abuse with students, and the first ever of its kind with our knowledge, spreading awareness and providing resources to teenagers who are already battling addiction in the current Fentanyl epidemic. This is a blog that I began over a decade ago as one of the first of eight poets to complete the Poetry/Publishing certificate program at the Independent Publishing Resource Center in 2011. It’s become part of what keeps me sober now, posting on here. I consider each follower a supporter of my recovery and journey as a poet and musician. Thanks for reading this.
